Have You Stopped Losing Weight? What To Do When You Reach A Plateau

By Kristie Ronalds

Is the weight loss frozen? What to do when you reach a plateau is a problem and frustrating to say the least! I'm not likely to say to you that you WILL begin shedding weight from following this advice as I realize it may not be true for some. What I will certainly say, is it is feasible that you CAN start losing weight once again as they worked for me personally.

In the event you haven't been drinking enough water, be sure to do so now. One and a half to two litres each day should do the trick (and stop you drinking excessive caffeine!) Drink it as cold as you can as the body needs to expend more energy getting itself back to normal temperature. Cold showers will also be excellent, and just 30 seconds of torture following a hot wash can make your body burn body fat for a few hours afterwards in an attempt to manage the body temperature. Not such a bad thing in the summer months and it's definitely not pleasant, but I'm certain it works.

You must not starve yourself, as this is not only dangerous, but could have the exact opposite effect to the one you wish as the body assumes starvation mode. Changing your eating habits is a good response to what to do when you reach a plateau. Unfortunately, there are some 'healthy' foods that really don't help you. But just like the cold showers which help create a thermogenic response in the body, a great way to improve weight loss is to add plenty of spice on your food. As a result you sweat and cause the body to work to control your temperature again. Wait a little while after which follow with a cool and refreshing iced sorbet (sugar-free of course) to restart the body temperature regulation process.

Even before you have your meal, lower your appetite with a starter of salad with healthy dressing or a basic low-calorie soup. Don't immediately have your main meal after, but leave it 5 to 10 minutes so your stomach has time to inform your brain that it has food in it already. This will help fill you up and positively control your wish to have desserts which are my weakness. To give your head time to catch up with the information, eat slowly. Having a meal with friends also helps as you tend to talk between mouthfuls anyway. These are a number of the simplest ways to use up loads of extra calories but without the risk of damaging your body.

Although I hate to mention the exercise word, if you aren't doing something already, at the least go out for a few 20 minute good walks. It's not long and will help. In order to improve existing exercise regime or don't want to walk, try to get a few sessions on a vibro plates machine. There's a substantial amount of proof these really do give you a boost, as for 10 minutes exercise on a machine, the body thinks it's done at least an hour! Even if you just stand and 'wobble' your muscles will react and work harder.

So, if you wish to know what to do when you reach a plateau and the weight just appears to stick - stay with it and try some of the above as they may just provide you with the boost you need.
